From the moment you open the box you realize that you have not only purchased a cutting edge television, you have also purchased an elegant decoration that will surely garner no small amount of jealousy from friends and family who come over to visit.

The television breaks away from the all too common styling of black shiny plastic exteriors with smooth rounded edges. Instead it features a brushed aluminum front panel with clear glass protruding from the set’s square, sharp edges.

Also, the TV is thin. With a total depth of 26.5 millimeters, the C8000 is one of the thinnest 55 inch LED TVs available. While the 3D technology is far more of a selling point, the sleek design unquestionably adds to the appeal for potential buyers. Also, did I mention that your friends and family will be immediately jealous of your new toy?

There are, however, some downsides to the styling of this television. One might be disappointed to find that in order to use anything other than the HDMI or USB inputs, you have to use breakout cables that plug into small outlets on the bottom of the TV. Using these awkward cables subtracts a little bit from the elegance of the C8000, but if you only use HDMI it will not be any issue.

Another new feature of the C8000 is that it uses an updated HDMI v1.4 input, which allows for the heavier load needed for a 3D signal. This may come in handy in the same way that USB 2.0 replaced the prior USB. Anyone who has tried to use a USB 2.0 device with a USB input on a computer knows that having the better input can save a lot of time and frustration.

Let’s move on to the core features of the device.

First off, the 55 inch display is breathtaking. The screen is lit from the top and the bottom edges. This provides for a much sharper image than previous back lit LED TVs, and does not have the distracting effect of having all four sides lit. When lighting from all four sides, the result is uneven brightness around the corners, where the LED lighting paths cross over each other. This distracts from the viewing experience and leaves you with the feeling that you have purchased a lower quality TV. Fortunately this television is designed to prevent that effect.

I found that you are provided with an amazing amount of control over the TVs image quality as well. You can adjust the more traditional settings such as the color balance, but you can also adjust the more complicated algorithms that the TV uses for its refresh rate, as well as the white balance and the amount of processor power that gets devoted to blur and judder reduction algorithms.

The TV also features a new LED Motion Plus system, which reduces lag time during quick moving scenes.

Now let’s talk about compatibility; a major consideration of any major home electronics purchase. This TV boasts DLNA connectivity, so you can connect the unit to your home media network. That is not to mention, however, that in order to connect to your network you need to purchase a separate wifi dongle. (While not expensive, it is always irritating to have to go out and buy a separate device just to use the core features of your ₤3000 set). The upside, once you purchase a dongle and connect the TV to your home network, is that you can not only stream videos, music and photos from your home library, but you can also use a number of online services like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube (if you have never spent hours watching youtube videos on your wide screen TV, you may be in for a treat, given you have nowhere to go for the next ten hours). You can also access your online Picasa albums,
Skype is available as well, but it requires purchasing a separate video camera to hook up to the TV. It adds yet another thing that you need to purchase to appreciate all the aspects of this set.

Which brings me to another issue I have with this TV; it is advertized with, at most, 1 pair of their proprietary active shutter 3D glasses included in the box. Additional pairs will run you just about ₤100 per set. I should add that the glasses themselves feel rather flimsy. A broken pair would be a rather large issue as well, as they are so costly to replace. The active shutter glasses do, however, function quite well. The system used is quite impressive; the glasses sync with the television and will polarize the left and right lens in an alternating fashion, blocking the image on the TV from the right eye while the image passes through to the left eye, alternating each frame between the left and right eyes. At 120 frames per second this process deserves some recognition. Just be sure not to leave them on the floor or where you may sit on them!

The TV features a built in Freeview HD Tuner. The tuner can be used with a portable USB hard drive or memory stick to record live TV in HD. The recorded videos can only be played back on the set from which they were recorded from, which is a little discouraging, but it is to be expected. Having the ability to record live TV without needing a DVR cable box is a big plus, so the DRM aspect can be overlooked. Another plus is the fact that this TV is compatible with the majority of USB 2.0 storage devices, whereas previous TVs making the same claims were only compatible with a handful of USB 2.0 devices.

The actual interface that you use to access all of these features is much easier to navigate than the recent attempts by TV makers to integrate television and internet. You have a clear menu and easy access to the online content (provided you have a wifi dongle), and an easy to learn remote control.

One added bit of comfort is the fact that, with internet connectivity, the TV’s firmware can be updated much in the same way that the iPhone or iPad has capitalized on. This leaves the opportunity for endless improvements and bug fixes in the coming years.

The C8000 features 4 HDMI v1.4 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports.

Now let’s talk about the reason that this TV is such a sensation in the first place. 3D technology. As I mentioned earlier, the active shutter glasses sync with the TV so that the images that were taken with a camera that was meant to simulate the perspective of the right eye are delivered only to the right eye, and same with the left eye with an alternate camera. This effect is quite brilliant on the 3D Blue Ray release of Monstors vs. Aliens. The TV’s technology differs greatly from the method used in movie theaters for 3D, where every other line of pixels in the image is coded for one of the two eyes, and the polarizing analogue glasses block the other eye’s image leaving you with what seems like a three dimensional image. The active shutter system creates a much sharper 3D world.

A constant downside, however, was the ghosting effect that occurred. Crosstalk (or ghosting) basically makes it look like you are seeing a second image of an item where it should not be. When looking at a building, you see the edge of the building, sort of out of focus, just a little to the left of where the stronger part of the image makes the building out to be. This effect depends highly on the viewer’s own perception, and is still very subjective as far as problems go, but it has been an issue for many customers who have purchased this TV.

The C8000 also comes with a feature to convert 2D to 3D. This effect didn’t do very much to actually make a 2D show into 3D, although it did alter the depth slightly. It also depends highly on how good of quality you are receiving your HD broadcasts. If the program you are watching is standard definition, the effect will more likely be detrimental to the experience rather than adding anything, as you are left with a blurry image. The effect is more effective in gaming, and may add quite a bit to your experience with games on Xbox or Playstation 3, and it can be expected that it will perform nicely with games in the future that have sharper graphics.

Overall this television is quite impressive. The appearance alone is enough to make you feel good about your purchase, and the quality of viewing 3D Blue Ray releases (as they become more widely available) is something to be desired. The price tag for this unit is quite steep though; as a result of being one of the forerunners on the 3D TV scene. It may be wise to wait another year for 3D technology to develop and become a bit cheaper before spending such a large amount on one of the first TVs on the scene.

This particular Plasma 3D Television was just this month named as T3′s TV of the year, beating better known TVs to the prestigious award with a unanimous judges vote. Named TV of the year for its fantastic visuals and range of features which is not just a triumph for Panasonic, but also Plasma TV technology as a whole. The TV boasts an almost ridiculous contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and if the professional judges are to be believed the best 3D performance of any set currently available, perhaps even more surprising is the fact that this was Panasonic’s flagship model that was launched early last summer, and was the first 3D Plasma available.

Plasma technology appears to have taken a bit of a back seat over its seemingly better looking, and certainly more popular LED lit LCD models, however this may all be about to change. Panasonic have remained firmly behind the technology releasing a number of models that is sure to delight even the most hardened LCD fan. The plasma is not quite as thin a TV as you may desire but at a depth of only 90mm is hardly the most cumbersome TV you will have ever owned.

As with most Plasma TVs this model offers amazing moving picture resolution, which was noted by the judges as the best of all the TVs compared for the award. This is no small feat when up against some seriously big hitters including the LG-47LX9900, the LG-47LD950, Samsung’s UE46C879, as well as Sony’s KDL-46HX903. The great moving picture resolution does not end at 2D, but also spills into the 3D arena where this particular model excels. The TV totally eliminates “Crosstalk” i.e. the occurrence of picture information meant for one eye accidentally being viewed by the other eye. The 3D experience will be one to remember and if your lucky enough to own one, enjoy for a long time to come.

The Glasses

Unfortunately the glasses are the big let down (they are slightly cumbersome and uncomfortable), but at least you get two pairs straight out of the box, something not apparently offered with the cheaper TX-P42GT20B. The glasses are of the active shutter variety.

Design

The design of this 3D Plasma is quite conservative, almost boring, but yet still very smart with a silver trim.

Connectivity & Online

Rear connectivity is great, and also incorporates a couple of Scart inputs, some component jacks along with matched up phono audio output, Ethernet port and 3 v1.4 HDMIs.

You will find additional inputs on the side, which include the CI card bay, SD card port, 2 USBs plus yet another HDMI.

This P50VT20 is just one of several brand new Televisions that allows standard programme recording onto an attached USB hard drive. Its use is minimal though. The hard drive must be registered to your TV set, and no other channel may be chosen whilst a programme is being recorded.

As with the smaller model you can either take your TV online with an ethernet cable or Wi-Fi dongle, where you will find Panasonic’s VieraCast content portal. You will also be able to easily stream You Tube, MP3′s, AVI’s HD MKV’s and Div X files from your network.

Dimensions

HEIGHT: 771MM

WIDTH: 1224MM

DEPTH: 90MM

WEIGHT: 27.5KG (without stand)

Resolution

1920 x 1080

Audio

THX Accreditation

The P50VT20 is THX accredited, which means a picture pre-set optimised for movie viewing, that eliminates over-scan as well as giving 1:1 pixel matching.

The GT20 range of 3D plasma television screens were originally publicised at IFA in Berlin and have been designed to provide a less expensive basic level choice to individuals who simply can’t afford the large pricey designs already released onto the market. Although it’s targeted at the cost-effective price, the actual P42GT20 incorporates a lot of the same technologies as the higher end VT20. Additionally, at merely forty two inches in width this P42GT20 is the smallest three dimensional display screen launched up to now from the organization, therefore it’s going to always be intriguing to determine exactly how good the three dimensional experience is in comparison to the 65” VT20. It is widely anticipated that the smaller screens may well under sell its larger more expensive cousin, however this will depend mainly on the markets want for a smaller 3D TV. This TV is THX certified and is the best in quality.

Offering a lot of the main characteristics of the VT20 three dimensional plasma televisions, this GT20 incorporates 24p ‘smooth Film’ for 3d, 600hz sub-field drive, 2D-3D conversion process, THX along with a High Contrast Filtration system. You will find there are 3 main differences between the GT20 Televisions and the VT20 collection. The first being the reality that it possesses a somewhat less sophisticated filtration system, the 2nd being the fact that it offers no sub-woofer and last but not least the fact that it doesn’t include any three dimensional eyeglasses inside box. The style of the Televisions are a little bit different too, nevertheless you’ll have to look very close to spot these.

/* Unit: tx-p42gt20b */
// ]]>

Build:

When you compare this Tv set to its top of the range cousin, the Panasonic TX-P42GT20B 3D Television has held on to the gloss metallic finish which the company has been applying to their complete 2010 range of screens but it will lose the sliver trim from the higher priced VT20. This isn’t that bad because it helps to make the Television appear slender, clean and therefore very desirable as well. The general framework is definitely modern plus sensibly light when compared with various other displays, having a frame which is 5cm wide at the very top as well as sides and 8cm wide towards the bottom. The trunk of the Television is a dark metal which in turn enhances the construction. The whole screen is placed on the complementing oval stand together with metallic cut which usually in spite of looking very small offers extremely strong support.

Remote control:

The push-button control that is included with this Viera TX-P42GT20B Flat Screen 3D TV is the identical dark coloured plastic design which Panasonic offered with the VT20 but it really feels much more consistent with the P42GT20’s position seeing that it is an entry level product. Although the remote control is probably not receiving any kind of design award, it no less than fulfils it’s main objective and it has also been presented nicely. All round, the actual remote control is very user-friendly and comfortable to deal with.

Connecting to the web:

Every one of the Panasonic screens released in 2010 possess a complete choice of inputs and the P42GT20 is not an exception. The Panasonic GT20 has Viera Cast on board so you can now access the Internet by connecting to your home network either wirelessly or via the Ethernet port. . Additionally, there are audio inputs as well as outputs utilizing RCA plugs and also a good optical sound input. For the Free-sat High definition feed there’s a simple satellite plug and then for Freeview High definition there exists the regular Radio wave socket.

Buttons and Slots:

There’s two USB inputs, one common interface card port, a composite video input as well as additional audio inputs together with a SD card port and also a 3.5mm headphone jack. As well as, a new firmware that will identify the three dimensional AVCHD data files from Panasonic’s most recent three dimensional video camera. All the current VT20 series Televisions can also get the means to access this particular firmware; in the event you have previously bought one of these and wish to update. As common with this particular series of slim High definition Televisions, you can locate the primary power switch and also standard volume as well as channel buttons at the rear.

Set up:

Panasonic has not really altered the menu systems and also your P42GT20 utilizes precisely the exact same selection methods as most of the preceding Televisions and because of this the actual set up is really quick as well as uncomplicated. As soon as connection is set up to your aerial for your P42GT20B Full High definition three dimensional Tv set, tuning in FreeView is usually simply a matter of several moments and the resulting EPG will be brilliantly colored, big as well as easy for you to understand. Nevertheless we all have got a small quibble; in contrast to the EPGs on some other Televisions presently there is absolutely no picture graphic associated with the particular tv channel you are presently on and, in truth, presently there is not even any kind of sound. In the event that you actually plan to make make use of of this Viera CAST feature, that is actually Panasonic’s Online Television feature, just about all a person has to do is simply link the particular display screen to the router making use of either some sort of LAN connection or even Wireless dongle. As opposed to the VT20, the P42GT20 doesn’t come with a Wireless dongle bundled nevertheless we all determined establishing the web connection to LAN cable extremely swift as well as effortless.

Main menu:

Comparable to the EPG, the actual primary menus program is striking, vibrant, simple to understand as well as fast to get around. This presents 3 options, known as Picture, Sound and audio Set Up. Within the actual Set Up there are the normal controls like Network Set, Timer as well as DivX VOD and a option named Advanced (ISFccc), that enables you to get entry to the Professional1 and also Professional2 image settings. A command has also been included for establishing the particular frame interpolation functionality that Panasonic calls Intelligent Frame Creation, however in the event that the picture being received is 24p then this particular functionality will become the 24p Smooth Film mode. Presently there is also a Resolution Enhancer command along with a control for setting up the 16:9 Overscan. This specific function is specifically significant due to the fact that by setting this to off will enable you to obtain precise pixel mapping along with no scaling.

Audio Menu:

The main Audio menu for the Panasonic TX-P42GT20B 42″ three dimensional Tv provides three various modules which include Speech, Music and also User, having the User setting allows you to personalize your sound set up utilizing the support of an equalizer. Now there are additionally controls including Bass, Treble plus Balance as well as the settings intended for the distance in between the actual sound system and your wall. Audio is definitely yet another place where by the P42GT20 is different from the actual VT20 with the P42GT20 simply possessing two x 10w loudspeakers without having any kind of bass speaker or subwoofer. The resulting audio on the 3d Television is definitely inadequate in comparison to its more expensive alternative, this nevertheless still seems acceptable, particularly when compared to a few of the actual extra slim versions.

Image Menu:

Within the main Picture menus, you actually discover a collection of Screening Settings that vary from the vision scorching Dynamic to THX preset which appears to end up being very good out of the package overall performance.

Now there happens to be 2 ISF modes identified because Professional1 and also Professional2 that permit admittance to extra Advanced Configurations and can easily be locked. The concept is that any ISFccc settings offers a professional calibrator along with the applications to effectively set the greyscale as well as coloration gamut and also subsequently secure all these configurations so that they are not able to end up being unintentionally altered. The actual purpose for 2 Specialist modes is in order to permit the calibrator to develop Day time as well as Night time configurations, each of which can be optimised for viewing programmes under several viewing conditions. This P42GT20 contains just about all the standard picture controls which include a Contrast management control for modifying the luminance of the video transmission, a Brightness control meant for changing the black level, a Coloring control as well as a Sharpness command. The Contrast Automated Tracking System has already been created to be able to change the Contrast setting from scene to scene in order to improve the actual contrast rate however this particular feature may result in imbalances with the actual picture and is actually ideally left off. Lastly there is a P-NR Sound Lessening function that has been developed to decrease compression artifacts.

In the event that the Professional1 and also Professional2 mode is chosen, you will be presented with access to your Advanced Configurations within which there will be choices for Colour Control, White Balance and Gamma. The White Balance selection enables 2 level calibration of the greyscale, your Colour Management menu permits changes to be made to the Hue and Vividness of the 3 primaries and also the Gamma selection permits a choice of various gamma curves.

Three dimensional features Menu:

Lastly there are selections intended for setting up the three dimensional capabilities on the Panasonic P42GT20. In the event you actually take advantage of a 3d Blu-ray player, then the actual TV set is going to change automatically to three dimensional mode as well as default to the Standard picture mode, this is certainly crucial because lighting productivity is certainly essential in order to get the 3d images effect to function properly. In cases where you will be utilizing some other sources for three dimensional material such as a Sky High definition box or even a Sony Playstation 3 then you will probably have to select the particular selections manually. Despite the fact that you can easily choose some other picture modes such as Cinema the THX predetermined preset is the best choice due to the improved illumination. You will probably have to pick the particular 3d file format, and your options consist of Auto, Side by Side as well as Top and Bottom. The additional configurations readily available will be Picture Sequence which reverses the left and right eyes, and Edge Smoother which will apply several smoothing effects to the picture.Yet again concealed deeply within your Setup menus below Other Settings will be a command known as 3d 24p Film Display that enables you to maximize the refresh rate on 24p three dimensional materials from twenty-four frames to forty-eight frames per eye.

Features:

As described within the introduction, the Panasonic TX-P42GT20B 42-inch Plasma Screen three dimensional Television has many of the characteristics that are on the VT20 as well as adding some brand new ones. The actual Television includes both Free-Sat High definition as well as FreeView High definition tuners and full HD 3D ability, which includes Panasonic’s new 2d to 3d transformation technologies. This particular Tv set also shares the comparable THX certification as well as ISF controls with the VT20 however a single region in which there is a distinction is actually the Limitless Black filtration system. As opposed to the VT20 that utilizes the Professional version, the P42GT20 tends to make use of an effective second-rate as well as less expensive contrast filtration system that might impact the actual display’s black levels as well as contrast.

Intelligent Frame Generation:

The P42GT20 has Intelligent Frame Generation which utilizes frame interpolation in order to immediately compensate for the actual image frame rate. Therefore, this particular function eliminates judder as well as making pictures smooth and crystal clear. While viewing Blu-rays encoded at 24fps this P42GT20 offers 24p Playback functionality which increases the actual frame pace to the much more suitable 96hz which in turn is actually a multiple of twenty-four. Now there is additionally 24p Smooth Film functionality that will do a little something comparable but also involves frame interpolation.

600hz:

A P42GT20 incorporates 600hz capabilities and this appears to have caused some confusion amongst buyers mainly because it seems to have been advertised like the 100hz or 200hz processing functions which are usually found on LCDs, however this is nothing of the kind. In reality, this makes reference to exactly how the sub-pixels help to make up the plasma tv picture. These kind of sub-pixels do not specifically impact motion, instead they produce the picture which is pulled on the TV screen with each and every frame. As opposed to Liquid crystal displays plasma televisions possess simply no issues with movement blur consequently the inclusion associated with the 600hz claim is actually nothing at all more than advertising blurb. We tend to see the idea a little bit funny that plasma tv makers really feel the need to include all these numbers in reaction to a characteristic in which Liquid crystal display brands merely presented in an endeavor to tackle a legitimate weak point with that specific system.

Video gaming:

We additionally determined that the TX-P42GT20B Full High definition Plasma 3d Television is also currently being targeted completely in the direction of avid gamers. Presently there are a large amount associated with three dimensional Televisions on the Panasonic stand simply hooked up to Nvidia three dimensional Vision Computers, plus the firm believes that the advantage associated with the 42-inch screen will certainly appeal to game enthusiasts who seem to want to experience the 3d trend with video games on the Playstation 3.

2d to 3d conversion process:

As soon as the VT20 had been launched, Panasonic reported that in contrast to several of their competing firms they would likely not be including any 2d to 3d conversion process function due to the fact they believed this particular feature appeared to be merely a cheap gimmick which created bad 3d. Nevertheless Panasonic’s approach to this particular function seems to be to hide it away within the three dimensional menus along with not mentioning the item inside any of their own marketing and advertising booklets. The idea appears as if it has been integrated more in order to tick some sort of box instead of offering more genuine top quality capabilities.

Three dimensional Spectacles:

There appears to have also been some indecision with relation to whether or not the P42GT20 would arrive along with any kind of shutter three dimensional eyeglasses bundled. Panasonic at first stated during the exhibit that this particular Television would likely not be delivered with free 3d glasses, however Panasonic, United kingdom, eventually unveiled that the lucky UK consumers would end up being treated to two cost-free sets of 3d glasses after all. Yet again, within the genuine specification table it has been described that “3d glasses would not be included”, so it is best to check with your deale prior to purchase.

Verdict:

The plasma Televisions associated with Panasonic have improved enormously over the previous couple of years, and all the technological enhancements have also been stuffed into the GT20. The VT20 range sold incredibly well, however it is difficult to tell if that is due to the fact that it is the top-end Television range or whether it is due to the fact consumers are generally truly enthusiastic to have 3d. This particular uncertainty is present because this GT20 range is actually a level lower through the super top end, nevertheless, in the event that it still sells as effectively it will probably be verified that people today truly care about 3d TV. .

In conclusion, most of us happen to be pretty unsure as to the quality associated with 3d on a 42” tv screen. In order to genuinely delight in the interesting depth as well as magnificence associated with 3d. Although we have been pleasantly satisfied by the actual three dimensional images on the GT20, we can not really help feeling that it is actually simply a tiny bit too small. We believe 50” is almost certainly the smallest people might want to choose when you genuinely care about 3d. Having said that many of the main brands have already decided to release much smaller versions, so we may be very wrong.Whats certain however is that 3D TV is here to stay.

It seems like every new movie that comes out is in 3D. That trend is now extending to 3D computer monitors. It’s easy to see why 3D is so popular. It makes whatever you’re watching so much more intense and real. It puts you right in the middle of the action! People want to be a part of that action, not only in the movie theater, but in their own homes, on their own computer. Imagine playing a game like Grand Theft Auto in 3D with the images jumping right out at you!

How does 3D computer technology work?
There are basically two approaches to gaming laptops. The passive system used by Acer’s Aspire 5738DG and the active system like Nvidia’s 3D Vision. The passive system is good because there is no wireless transmitter and the glasses are lighter and less expensive. The downside is it cuts the horizontal display resolution in half which is just not cool for serious gamers. The passive shutter glasses also need a display with a polarizing filter which is a lot more costly to build.

The active system needs bulkier active glasses and a wireless transmitter to control the glasses. This is usually bought separately. The monitor has to have a 120 Hz or faster display and a powerful video card like the GeForce GPU. The cost of the glasses is more, but the active system can display the full 1920 by 1080 display resolution and it will work with any 120Hz monitor.

The first 120Hz monitors put on the market last year were the Viewsonic FuHzion VX2265wm and the Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ. Both were 22 inches with 1680 by 1050 screen resolution. Not far behind them are the Acer GD245HQ, Dell’s Alienware OptX AW2310, LG Electronics’ W2363D, and ViewSonic’s V3D241wm-LED. Each of these are 23 inches or larger.
After investing in all this fancy hardware, are there even any games compatible with it? According to Nvidia there are over 400 games that already work with 3D Vision! Game makers are still learning how to shoot and edit content in 3D, but PC games are surprisingly easy to convert into 3D. So, once you have the equipment, you’re good to go!

So chances are you are interested in trying out the Nvidia’s 3D Vision Kit and are curious as to which 120Hz LCD computer monitors to buy to make sure you get the most from it. If this is the case we would highly recommend purchasing the Samsung SyncMaster 2233RZ currently for sale at Amazon – Click Here (£218.99). The Samsung 2233RZ appears to have a much higher performance than its main rival the ViewSonic FuHzion vx2265wm. This is currently the only monitor on the market perfectly suited to 3D gaming, although there will be others soon.

We have now been playing around with this monitor and the Nvidia’s 3D Vision Kit for quite sometime and although we are sure the actual monitor performance (especially when not displaying 3D) could be better we are very happy and in 3D it offers something that will amaze both yourself and your friendly in equal measure. However saying that this monitor only has a single DVI input which is a little inconvenient and you could be excused for expecting a lot more from a monitor in this price range.

It is best if before any purchase is made you fully understand what is required in terms of graphics cards etc to get the most from this monitor & Nvidia’s 3D Vision Kit Check out our review of the Nvidia 3D Vision Kit for more information.

Manufacturer’s specifications:
Resolution: 1,680×1,050 pixels
Pixel-response rate: 3ms
Contrast ratio: 1,000:1
Brightness: 300 cd/m2
Connectivity: DVI
HDCP compliant? Yes
Included video cables? DVI-D Dual link

Television history was made by Sky Television this weekend when they broadcast the first ever live football match in full 3D.

A selection of fans, media, and industry executives were given the chance to see Manchester United beat Arsenal 3-1 in full 3D at the Emirates stadium and across nine other secret locations across the UK. Each of these pubs had been fitted with a 3D television especially for the event. Unfortunately my invite must have been lost in the post.

The broadcast was a taster of things to come as Sky plan to show one game a week in full 3D at no extra cost to viewers – other than the 3D television set itself of course.

Although the game itself was the highlight of the day many company executives would have been very interested to find out if 3D TV impressed the fans enough to warrant the amount of money being spent by the large TV manufacturers in developing the 3D technology. The question on everybody’s lips must have been, will be buy it?

It appears the 3D effects were good but that many were expecting a lot more from it. Many viewers having just watched Avatar may have been disappointed as i am quite confident the effects would not have compared. However it has been reported that only half the 20 cameras normally used for filming a football match were used for the 3D screening, and many of these camera men (and women) were probably very new to the technology. Getting used to the sudden change may take some time to get the best out of it.

3D Television will be great but it may take a little time to become brilliant.

Over the past few months it has surprised me that so many people have been complaining about the introduction of 3D Televisions onto the market. Surely this is the stuff that we dreamed about as a child – I know i certainly did. I hope the unveiling of Samsung’s new 3D television will silence those in protest and convince everyone else that 2010 is indeed going to be the year of 3D.

Samsung has decided to fully back the 3D ‘movement’ with all its might and is certainly not letting a little thing like money get in its way. Samsung has been investing, and investing heavily in 3D as was proved when they unveiled there all singing all dancing 3D ultra thin televisions in Las Vegas. Samsung plan to bring the 3D TV, 3D Blu-Ray Players & 3D Home theater systems into stores this year.

Samsung plan to launch an LCD, LED & Plasma version. They will also launch there highly anticipated 9000 series which will have a proprietary 3D engine that will convert 2D video to 3D, which Samsung views as a temporary solution to the lack of 3D DVD/Blu-Rays currently available. The 9000 series will come in models ranging from 19″ to 65″, but for me the the reason that i think this TV will be a massive seller is quite simply its unbelievable beauty. The 9000 series is probably / definitely the thinnest television i have ever seen – watch out posh spice there’s a new chick on the block!

The surprises didn’t however end here, Samsungs TV will also include a touch screen remote control and ‘App’ store. By the spring you will be able to download free ‘Samsung Apps’ and even write an App yourself. Paid Applications should be released by the summer.

But what will you watch? Samsung has also unveiled that they have teamed up with Dreamworks and Technicolor to make sure there will be good 3D stuff for you to watch.

Samsung has come out of the trap early, i just hope they have the pace for the full marathon.

Many of the new 3D monitors on sale will require you to purchase a set of NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision Glasses to get the full benefit of what 3D gaming can offer you. It has become apparent that many do not understand the principles, and specification requirements to enable a full 3D experience so we will try to cover these in this article., but we will first look at a more general overview of the NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision Glasses.

The NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision Glasses will transform your computer gaming experience into a full 3D gamers paradise, however that is not all that NVIDIA 3D Vision will do for you. This piece of equipment will transform 100′s of already widely played games into full 3D, – so there is no need to wait for the latest 3D releases to get the most from this equipment. In addition, you can view movies and digital photographs in eye popping 3D.

The main and most usual problems occur because you will require Windows 7 or Windows Vista – so make sure you have these in place before purchasing.

Remember although the requirements are many the gaming experience you will receive is the future.

Samsung has said that the release date for there new 3D range of TV’s and Blu-Ray Players will be in March which will be music to many awaiting the new technologies ears.

The LED 8 Series, 7 Series the LCD 7 Series TVs, along with the BD-C6900 Blu-ray player, will be the first 3D models will roll out in the UK from March. These will be followed up in the UK by LED 9 series TVs, the Plasma 7 Series and the HT-C6930W home theatre system a few months later.

All of the 3D TVs will feature built-in Ethernet connection, wireless capabilities, and Internet@TV, offering access to the TV platform application store, Samsung Apps (as previously reported by us at 3DPlasmaTelevisions.co.uk).

For the TVs, Samsung has included in its 3D processor an auto-conversion technology to switch 2D content into 3D in real time, allowing users to add a level of depth to a live programming.

“The success of recent 3D movie titles is building anticipation from people who want to enjoy the richness of 3D content from the comfort of their living room,” said BooKeun Yoon, President of Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics.

“We are confident that by being first to market [with 3D technology] with the best integrated technology and approach, we have the best opportunity to capitalize on the market anticipation and continue to strengthen our leadership in 2010.
